• Upgrade and construct higher- and lower-level canals and associated infrastructure (e.g. protective mudflow crossing structures, cross-regulators and offtakes)
• Participatory planning, design and management process involving the SAWR, WUAs and other key stakeholders to ensure equitable and sustainable outcomes
• Community-based contracting to be piloted for lower-level canal modernisation in Pravaya-Vetka subproject located in Jalalabad Oblast and expanded to other subprojects if successful

During I and II quarter 2020 were selected 4 subprojects (including 17 WUAs with 31,5 thousand ha):

• Subproject – Pravay Vetka, including 8 WUAs with 13.1 thousand ha, out of them 7 WUAs (namely Kara-Unkur, Aikol-Suu, Murat-Murab, Aral-Sai,nooken-K,Sakaldy-Suu and Taimonku) related to Nooken Rayon and 1 WUA Kenesh-Suu in Bazar-Korgon Rayon. Both rayons within Djalal-Abad Oblast.
• Subproject – Saparbaev 1 and 2, including 3 WUAs with 6,8 thousand ha. 3 WUAs (namely Moltur-Suu, Abshir-Tany and Toolos-Nookat) in Nookat Rayon Osh Oblast.
• Subproject – Kojo-Kaiyr, including 3 WUAs with 5.4 thousand ha. 3 WUAs (namely Isa-Mariam, Kara-Dobo-K-Dobo and Kojo-Kaiyr) in Kadamjai Rayon Batken Oblast.
• Subproject – Osmon, including 3 WUAs with 6.3 thousand ha. 3 WUAs (namely Karagul-Ata, Filun and Ak-Beshim) in Chui Rayon Chui Oblast.
